“California Water #1” by Nanette Newbry Framed 12” x 12” encaustic painting on paper. Nanette Newbry is an Encaustic and Performance Artist. Her studio is within a few blocks of the Pacific. The water along with our bright, Mediterranean-like California color in the air influenced this first series of encaustic works on paper. Expression and process constitutes the components of her painting. She is interested in how we relate to the world and its conditions both psychologically and politically. Formal elements of color and shape express these concepts. "Torrey Pines Nocturne, PCH" by Tony Peters
12” x 16” oil painting. Tony Peters is influenced by the rich history of architecture and the urban landscape. He combs the city environs in search of inspiring views of the inhabitants and uses as his backdrops, tattered street corners, train yards, the LA River, and the vast web of freeways around Los Angeles. Peters was awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Art Center College of Design, and while in school worked at the Mendenhall Gallery in Pasadena. Since graduating in 2000, he has had a prolific career as an artist, with over twenty gallery shows, feature articles in Southwest Art magazine, and private commissions. Peters continues to travel to Europe and New York, photographing and painting along the way. But his first love remains the urban landscape of Southern California, where he continues to be moved by the inner beauty of the city. He is one of the up and comers of the contemporary California art scene. Tony Peters is a Mentor Member of the California Art Club, and recently won the CAC Urban Landscape Award at the 2009 Gold Medal Exhibition. Tony is represented by K. “San Elijo Lagoon” by Robert Watts
12” x 16” oil painting. Born in 1943 to a family of artists, Robert Watts was encouraged to draw and paint from an early age. He spent his youth in the Iowa countryside with summers in Colorado. This fostered his intense love of nature and the landscape in its many moods. During forty years as an illustrator and painter he has had many experiences. As an official NASA artist, he created a number of original works celebrating our space program from Surveyor and Apollo to Skylab. In 1971, during the Viet Nam era, he was invited to join the Salmagundi Club of New York and to serve as a Navy Combat Artist. This provided an invaluable training ground for outdoor painting. Robert has won many awards and is a highly sought after painting instructor. His paintings can be found in corporate and private collections internationally.
